The British government confirmed, on Wednesday, the appointment of former banker Richard Sharp at Goleman Sachs Bank as the new chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
The chairman of the BBC, who is formally appointed by the Queen on the recommendation of the government, is responsible for upholding and protecting the organization's independence.
The position was offered to Sharp last month, and Sharp was appointed to the position for a period of four years.
